May 31

$1.25 for tea, again.  This time, I had the tea bags but was out of sugar.  My office mate has Splenda and Nutrasweet; I prefer the real thing.

$5.40 for a chicken burger lunch.  It looks disturbingly like the hamburger version.

Attempted to do a load of laundry when I got home, but the coins got stuck in the coin slot of the machine.  So now I'm waiting on the apartment manager to get the key from the owner and refund my money.  Laundry is going to have to wait until at least Thursday.  I won't count the missing laundry change in any of my totals yet.

Total spending: $6.65

May 2011 total spending: $436.65
May money wasted: $15.45

May 30

Stayed home and watched the French Open on TV.  Didn't spend anything.

May 29

One load of laundry: $2.75.  Cleaned the fridge; the casualties this week add up to about $8.00.  The portobello mushroom had started to sporulate; it's probably not good when your fungus starts growing fungus.  The sausage and beef loin had started to grow spoilage slime; the cherries were moldy.

Total spending: $2.75
Total wasted: $8.00

May 28

Book of snail mail postage stamps: $8.80

Tank of gas: $49.41.  I drive a Honda Element with a 14.5 gallon tank, so when I fill up it's usually about 12 gallons.

Drove out to the Ontario Mills Outlet Mall with specific goal of visiting the Converse store and replacing the pair of All Stars that I have worn the heel off of.  Originally intended to get another pair of black ones, but orange was on the clearance rack for $15 less.  $24.99

Sports apparel from the Nike store, $53.47.  I recently took up golf, and I'm terrible at it.  My tennis game isn't much better.

Cookie from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Company: $2.00.  I really wanted to take a picture, but it was gooey and hot out of the oven and I couldn't really do it without making a gigantic mess.

MAC makeup from Saks Off 5th: $60.63.

Clothing from JC Penney outlet: $45.09.  The cashier thought the yellow nightgown was a swimsuit cover up.

Dinner at Chik-fil-A for $6.67. I grew up in Georgia, so I'm used to eating there.  Californians get way too excited about this place.

Groceries from Trader Joe's: $32.77.
Total for the day: $252.17
Total for the week: $293.58

May 27

Hawaiian Ono Lunch: $5.47.
Pink's Hot Dogs, $10.45.  The hot dogs are good, but not worth standing in line for 2 hours with a bunch of drunks and gawking tourists.  The line was short when I drove by, so I stopped.  And I got there just before the tour bus full of high school students, so it only took about 15 minutes.

Total spending: $15.92

May 26

The McDonald's frozen strawberry lemonade would have been good if they had left out the strawberry syrup.  $1.85.

Government cafeteria salad, $5.75.

Total spent: $7.60.

May 25

$5.67 chicken dinner from Church's that I forgot to take picture of.....

$5.09 cafeteria lunch.  As bad as it looks, it was actually kind of sort of OK.  The bun and burger quality has improved significantly over the past month, and the steak cut fries are way better than the old shoe strings.
Total spending: $10.76

May 24

$5.75 turkey dinner.  They didn't even overcook the veggies this time!
Total spending: $5.75.

May 23

Lunch was two hard boiled eggs. $1.38.  Not even the cafeteria can mess these up.

Total spent: $1.38.

May 22, 2011

Started the day with $7.50 on three loads of laundry.  I used the laundry room in my apartment.  I could have saved $1.25 by going to the laundromat that is 2 blocks away, but the trade off for the monetary savings is hordes of small children running amok and their parents doing nothing to stop them.

Grocery shopping at Ralph's: $33.26.  I can't believe that a pound of butter ($4.59) now costs more than a gallon of gas($4.19).  The loaf of bread will be going on the wasted list by the end of  the month.

Stopped at McDonald's on the way home from Ralph's: $5.26
Casualties from the pantry. $5.00 wasted.  I can never finish a loaf of bread before it either goes moldy or stale.
Total spending: $46.32    Total wasted: $5.00

May 21, 2011

I stayed home today and cleaned the refrigerator.  $3.00 worth of fruit got discarded; it was stuff I would have actually eaten but just somehow never got around to it.

The green eyeshadow quad actually worked!  So even though it was a completely unnecessary purchase, it can come out of the loss column because it will actually get used.

Total wasted: $3.00

May 15-21 spending total: $143.07
Money completely wasted: $5.45

May 20, 2011

May 17:

The vegetable pizza at work costs $2.79; it's not any better than the cheese version.

Groceries from Smart & Final, the warehouse store that really isn't.  The chocolate chips, sugar, and walnuts went to bake cookies for stressed out coworkers.   The other stuff is for me.  $32.84
 Total spending: $35.63.

May 18

The tuna salad wrap from work, $4.89.  It was so bad that I only ate half of it, so $2.45  completely wasted.  $52.43 for a tank of gas on the way home.
Total spending: $57.32     Total wasted: $2.45

May 19

$1.25 for tea at Starbucks.  Or more like government cafeteria masquerading as Starbucks.  I normally make my own tea, but forgot to bring more tea bags to work.
 Total spending: $1.25

May 20

Another $1.25 gone on tea because I forgot the tea bags again.  Had a french fry lunch for $1.50.
I actually bought the shirt a couple of weeks ago from a coworker who sells Avon. $19.99 plus tax, which is 9.75% in Los Angeles.  Totally uneccessary purchase; I just have thing for the color orange.
Green eyeshadow compact, also from Avon; it was $4.54.  I haven't even tried it yet, and already know it's going to end up in the "wasted" column.  I've never been able to wear green eyeshadow without looking like I need a liver transplant; I stupidly keep trying.
Spent another $5.97 for bandage material that I left on my desk at work and will probably have to end up buying again tomorrow.

Total spending: $36.83   Total wasted: $4.65

May 16, 2011

Zero spending on May 15.

My $3.29 lunch on May 16.  It's about as appetizing as it looks, being that it's pizza from a federal government cafeteria.

$6.00 chicken dinner.  The fries were greasy, the chicken was dry, and the green hot sauce was just weird.  This place usually has a line out the door on Friday and Saturday night, so starting to think this must be food for drunks.  Won't be making a repeat visit.

$2.75 for a load of laundry.

Total daily spending: $12.04
